BACKGROUND

The Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE) is a central organisation for the employers governed by a Board of Directors elected by the general membership. The Federation was established in 1966 and exists to promote and protect the interests of the employers through lobbying with the government on labour and business legislation and representation at local and international conferences. The Federation operates under a constitution, which provides for a general membership, Board of Directors and the Secretariat. The Secretariat, which is headed by the Executive Director, assists members by:

•          General Information and Advice on Labour Matters;
•          Assistance at Union Negotiations;
•          Appearance before the Industrial Relations Court;
•          Settlement of Industrial Disputes;
•          Lobbying Government on Labour and Business Legislation;
•          Representation at Local and International Conferences;
•          Regular Newsletters and occasional information Up-date Papers.
